Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti, Tanzania, officially opened this week. Previously known as the Bilila Lodge, the extensively renovated property is the first Four Seasons in sub-Saharan Africa. Two additional properties are planned in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, as well as a beach resort on the island of Zanzibar.

The 77-room property includes 12 suites with plunge pools and five freestanding villas with private swimming pools. Each room has an elevated open-air sundeck providing expansive views of the surrounding central Serengeti. A two-story great house includes three restaurants and a sunset bar with an extensive African wine cellar. The lodge welcomes guests ages 8 and older and has a “discovery center” featuring museum-quality exhibits about the surrounding wildlife, environment and culture.
