Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Palace Completes Renovation

Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Palace will celebrate its 90th birthday next year following an extensive six-month, $20 million renovation. Ninety rooms were upgraded with new furniture, enhanced lighting and larger baths featuring porcelain enamel tubs. The newly designed Hotel Cipriani restaurant now offers an intimate “table du chef” set squarely within the confines of the kitchen, and a much larger lobby area now features its original 1923 ceiling. Rio de Janeiro hosts the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.
