The registered charity Historic Royal Palaces announced today that a Brazilian investment consortia has recently purchased the Tower of London with the intent of turning the well-known estate into a luxury hotel. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
“We’re very excited about the possibilities,” said group spokesperson Nestor Jao Barbiña.
“There will be an Anne Boleyn Suite, of course. And a 10,000 square-foot Traitor’s Gate Spa. We’re going to have an April Bloomfield craft pub called Two Happy Toms in honor of More & Cromwell. And we’re hoping to get Guy Fierie for the Guy Fawkes-themed restaurant which we’re going to call Guy’s.”
The group has yet to confirm a luxury hospitality brand to manage the property.
“Needless to say we’re talking to several prominent hotel groups, including a certain New York-based real estate developer,” added Mr. Barbiña.
The Tower of London dates to the reign of William the Conqueror and enjoys an enviable central London location just off the A100.
