Landmark resort in a village-like setting adjacent to a wildlife preserve, an hour north of Milwaukee. A gabled brick manor (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) houses 240 guest quarters with lavish Kohler baths. The exclusive Club Guest Rooms in the Carriage House above the spa offer private check-in and concierge services. Elegant Old World public areas contain several distinctive dining venues, including Immigrant Restaurant, specializing in contemporary cuisine. Four spectacular Pete Dye 18-hole championship golf courses; also health and fitness spa with indoor pool, indoor/outdoor tennis courts, trap shooting range, fishing streams and woodland trails. No children under age 16 in the Carriage House.

FYI - we thoroughly enjoyed the American Club in Kohler as well.  They also seem to be at the top of their game.  A 10 minute drive to the Whistling Straits golf course for lunch was a highlight, as well as the beautiful gardens of the village of Kohler. June 2011
