Enchanting little sanctuary screened by rustic wood gates and offering superb hospitality, just outside the center of San Pedro de Atacama. Modeled after the traditional architecture of Tulor, a local Indian site dating from 800 B.C., the heart of the property is a large circular area defined by sienna-hued adobe walls inset with rows of local stones. There, inviting chaises longues flank a small pool. Thatched roofs supported by tree trunks cover a bar, an open-air dining area and a number of sitting alcoves. The eight rooms have adobe walls, thatched roofs and dark-wood floors, and are enhanced by dramatic lighting. Each room has its own dedicated guide, driver and four-wheel-drive vehicle; activities list runs 17 pages. Exceptionally good food.

Enjoyed five days there Jan 2013. Very comfortable accommodations; room 3 was super; definitely would not want to be in a room on the reception side of the road. Treks and guides for non-serious hikers were well calibrated and fun. Personal guides and drivers were good people and adequately trained. Restaurant was very uneven...certainly not world class...some good some not. But the desert is a must see...totally unlike Patagonia where we headed after leaving San Pedro.
