We just returned The Broadmoor, and think this is the perfect Colorado destination...especially for families, or families with pets! (This trip, we had neither with us, but noticed how much fun the kids were having.) We did a girls trip and stayed in the newly-constructed Cottages, overlooking the 18th hole of one of their golf courses - with the mountains offering a beautiful backdrop, of course. Although they were preparing for the Women's PGA Tour to play on July 4, the grounds were immaculate. The Cottages were like having your own home, but with all of the service of a hotel. Our room (#3972) had a living room, with one glass wall that opened onto a patio that over-looked the green. Our particular room had 2 double beds, but we learned that the Cottages can be opened and arranged so that you have 6 bedrooms within one "cottage". Much less action than staying in the main building, and you don't get that historical detail, but we loved them and would stay there again! And you must check out the saline lap pool if you are there in the summertime. We are considering booking a holiday retreat (think cold but no snow), and will take advantage of the guided tours of Cheyenne Canyon, which are located behind the hotel.
