Restored landmark hotel dating from 1892, in the heart of the revitalized downtown business district. The grand nine-floor atrium lobby boasts a stained-glass ceiling and an immense fireplace. (The lobby is a local attraction and the tourists can be a nuisance.) The 241 guest rooms and suites are done in lavish Victorian style, and their marble baths have recently been upgraded. Six restaurant and lounge options offer a variety of cuisine, from contemporary fine dining to casual pub fare. The 5,000-square-foot spa has six treatment rooms; also fitness salon.
