Charming 13th-century manor house-hotel at the edge of an unspoiled village near Broadway. Thirteen stylish guest quarters (no A/C) feature antiques and rich wallcoverings. Request “Vaulted” or “Fountain,” though “Oak,” “Delany,” “Floral” and “Scott” are also very nice; baths provide tubs and separate showers. Restful lounges have oak paneling, beamed ceilings, Oriental carpets and log fires. Candlelit dining room features fresh local produce, with herbs from the manor’s own gardens. Amenities include ornamental gardens, tennis court and small outdoor heated pool. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon is 30 minutes away.

The general manager of Buckland Manor really went out of his way to make us have a very special holiday. Beautiful inn. He upgraded us, maybe double upgraded us, and we had a great suite, wonderful dinner and constant attention of wonderful staff. We cannot wait to go back. Fabulous stay.
