Eco-resort founded by Laurance Rockefeller amid 170 verdant acres bordered by seven secluded white-sand beaches. The 166 accommodations feature private patios or balconies. Elegant Turtle Bay Estate House serves "classic and creative" American cuisine; Caneel Beach Bar and Grill offers an informal environment appropriate for families. We have enjoyed Caneel Bay many, times over the last 30 years. My husband & I both find the ambiance 2nd to none. But in recent years have found the food to be ok at best. And the service isn't what it was in years gone by. Caneel gets by with this because we love both Caneel & St John & can't help going back year after year.

January 2012 - We just returned from 4 nights at Caneel. The property is beautiful and we loved the beaches and snorkeling. The service at Caneel was dissappointing especially given the cost per night of the property. They were not particularly helpful and some were almost rude. The food was ok but nothing great. We would go again to enjoy the beaches and amazing weather but will have lower expectations on the service next go around.
