Idyllic wilderness retreat located half an hour by boat from Tofino. The grounds contain a cluster of log cabin-style buildings, plus guest accommodations in 20 luxurious tents. Eight of these are connected by cedar boardwalks and come with thick rugs, antique furniture, Adirondack style beds with down duvets, electric lighting and propane “woodstoves.” Each tent has a dedicated dressing room/shower in an adjacent central bathhouse. New this year are 12 en suite bath tents. The cookhouse is a handsome post-and-beam space with high ceilings, a double-sided fieldstone fireplace, an open kitchen and a wraparound deck. Chef Ryan Orr creates memorable “modern natural cuisine,” and his five-course dinners include dishes such as truffle marinated spaghetti squash salad with tiger prawns, and lightly seared albacore with a duck confit. Activities include hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, whale-watching, bear-viewing and fishing for steelhead, salmon and cutthroat trout.

All-inclusive three-, four- or seven-night package, from $4,750 per person (All meals, house wine/spirits, spa treatment, guided activities and airport transfers included).

Rates include all meals, snacks, evening hors d'oeuvres and beverages including bar and wines, all guided adventure activities and seaplane transfers to/from the resort and Vancouver, B.C. For three- or four-night packages, rates include one massage treatment per room. For seven-night packages, rates include two massage treatments per room.

"Clayoquot is a fantastic experience for the entire family, combining great outdoor adventures and camp-area activities for children, and Michelin-star-level food and wine for adults. It might be worth noting that while the writeups only mention in-and out transportation via seaplane from the Vancouver airport, it is quite fast and easy to transport between Clayoquot and Tofino/the Wickaninnish Inn via a 20-30 minute boat ride if members wanted to combine the two locations in one trip." My wife and I recently spent our wedding anniversary at this resort. It was a wonderful experience in all respects:the setting, the facilities.the food ,the range of activities and the staff. They have truly achieved  a first class experience while retaining the character of a wilderness resort.
