This meticulously restored mining town resort is situated in a pristine valley not far from Telluride. The 13 original wood cabins have been beautifully renovated and augmented by new all-season tented accommodations. Each cabin is individually decorated: “Dolores” has a painted wedding bed from Rajasthan; “Vertical Log” has a gorgeous Native American robe hanging behind the bed. At the heart of the property, the Saloon is a convivial gathering spot for drinks and outstanding meals. Guests may soak in the 105-degree natural springs, and the property also has a spa, library and gym. Activities include fly-fishing, hiking, biking, climbing and horseback riding in summer, and ice climbing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter. Families are welcome, and the whole town can be booked for groups.
Dolores Cabin, from $1,300; Vertical Log Cabin, from $1,700 (all meals and house beverages included; lower winter/spring rates available).
Rates include all meals, beverages (excluding fine liquors and vintage wines from the Reserve List), Wi-Fi, telephone calls and parking.

Dear Andrew Harper Member,
My name is Edoardo Rossi, and I am the General Manager here at Dunton Hot Springs. I sincerely apologize for the problems you experienced during your stay, and appreciate you sharing your thoughts regarding your visit.
I was surprised to hear of your disappointment in the Major Ross cabin, as this is our second most requested cabin, and the most requested from repeat guests. We are going to be making some changes to Major Ross this winter by adding an extension on the back of the cabin, which will house a large tub (to be filled directly from the source of the hot springs). An extension to the bathroom, if you will.
The scallop issue was unfortunate, and I am very sorry you had to experience this. The issue was one of those situations where a last minute decision had to be made, and I did not want to offer our guests a bad meal experience where a product was below par. Additionally, I am never willing to do anything that jeopardizes the safety of our guests. I am sorry to hear our “backup plan” did not meet your expectations.
I strongly feel the problems you experienced were unusual rather than the norm, and if you would consider revisiting Dunton Hot Springs you would have a greatly improved experience. Based on all other Andrew Harper reviews of our resort, I believe this is evident. It is our hope you will give us that opportunity, and you may contact me directly to make the arrangements.
Once again, our sincerest apologies for not fully meeting your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to detail your experience. We will use your observations positively, and hope to see you at Dunton Hot Springs again soon.
Sincerely,
Edoardo Rossi
General Manager
Dunton Hot springs
We just spent 5 nights at Dunton Hot Springs and our stay was incredible! Dunton's spectacular setting is just one of its features. The food is just amazing - every meal of it - and the staff could not be any kinder and more welcoming.
Housekeeping and turn-down service is a bit inconsistent though. For example when we arrived it appeared as though our cabin's cleaning effort had been interrupted. However, the rest of the service very much makes up for any house keeping's short-comings.
Dunton is truly a magical place. We can't wait to go back.
