Four Seasons Istanbul at Sultanahmet

Wish I had seen that before we went! (Perhaps emailing responses from the Travel Office would be a good idea.) The Four Seasons Sulthanhamet turned out to be wonderful in just about every way. Further, traffic was so bad that it took (literally) hours to get to some of the more interesting neighborhoods and restaurants. If someone is mostly interested in seeing the fantastic sights of Istanbul, this hotel is right in among them, and is the only luxury option. Had we stayed elsewhere, I think we would have opted to skip sightseeing some days just to avoid the terrible traffice. That said, I would encourage people to inquire about water taxis--not inexpensive, but easily worth it for the savings in time. The only down side of the FS Sulthanhamet is the higher end restaurants are nowhere near--other than the hotel's restaurant, which had excellent food and wonderful service at not outrageous prices.
