Gracious 175-lodging resort overlooking two beaches from the hilly Peninsula Papagayo. Premium Rooms afford the best ocean views from balconies; all feature marble baths with soaking tubs and glass showers. Preferred are the panoramic and spacious hillside suites; it is a steep climb to these, though shuttle service is available. Three restaurants, grill/bar near large pool, four Har-Tru tennis courts (as well as a new grass court), large fitness center, a full-service spa and a seaside Arnold Palmer golf course.

We stayed in the Miramar suite, their 4,000+ sq. ft. presidential accommodation. We've stayed in the best suites in the best hotels all over the world. This was probably the best of the best. In the off season, it may be possible to upgrade to it at a substantial discount if it is unoccupied at the time of check in. (Even with a discount, it is likely to be extremely expensive.)
