Elegant 249-room Mediterranean-style golf and spa resort adjacent to a 4,100-acre nature preserve north of downtown San Diego. Opulent interiors evoke the style of famed 1920s resort architect Addison Mizner; lush grounds contain garden fountains, generous courtyards and flowered terraces. Spacious lodgings are decorated turn-of-the-century style in jewel tones with gilded gold and wrought-iron accents, dark wood furnishings, crown moldings, hand-stenciled ceilings, brocade upholstery and crystal lamps. Marble baths feature soaking tubs, dual sinks, separate showers and 13-inch LCD televisions. Six dining venues include signature Addison for contemporary French cuisine, and Amaya for American dishes. Resort guests have access to the dramatic 18-hole Tom Fazio golf course at The Grand Golf Club. The lavish 21,000-square-foot spa has 11 treatment rooms and an adjacent adults-only pool and Jacuzzi, plus a fitness center with yoga and Pilates classes. Also three other heated pools, tennis, hiking, biking and outdoor/cooking classes; nearby beaches for water sports. Supervised children’s programs.

Just returned from a delightful stay at the Grand Del Mar. Their signature restaurant, Addison, was divine. Lovely spot when staying in the San Diego area. Concierge staff was most accomodating.
Agree, wholeheartedly. My husband and I stayed at GDM about a year ago, while San Diego was experiencing some above average rainfall. The hotel was a welcome respite from the outdoors those two days. The spa, restaurants and our gorgeous room with fireplace were wonderful. When you're perfectly comfortable being "trapped" in your hotel, you know it's good.
What a delightful resort! Elegant without feeling stuffy. Addison is a remarkable restaurant. Loved the Harper amenities. The staff and concierge were very professional, yet California casual. The complimentary beach service is one of the best hotel amenities we have ever encountered. We were driven to the gorgeous beach (appx 15 min), where beach chairs, towels, umbrella and cold bottles of water were set out for us. Then, at a pre-arranged time, were whisked back to the hotel. Glorious.
