Distinguished 88-room hotel in Tribeca, one block east of the Hudson River, owned by Robert De Niro (whose Tribeca Film Center and Tribeca Grill are nearby). Dignified and reassuringly unglitzy, the property has a masculine, worldly décor. A tranquil drawing room with deep leather armchairs leads out into a delightful leafy courtyard. Deluxe Greenwich Rooms (460 square feet) provide rainfall showers and soaking tubs; some suites have private saunas and working fireplaces. All accommodations come with small libraries, iPod docks, Italian robes and Moroccan leather slippers. Locanda Verde offers a menu of Italian trattoria comfort food. The superb Shibui spa has four treatment rooms, a traditional Japanese bath and a lantern-lit swimming pool beneath the reconstructed roof of a 250-year-old wood-and-bamboo Japanese farmhouse.

Was at the Greenwich Hotel in July and had such a wonderful stay. Our room was comfortable and the Japanese soaking tub was such a luxury after walking through the city all day. The rooms come stocked with snack baskets filled with local goodies which was a fun touch. I would stay here again in a heartbeat - and recommend to all of my friends. We especially enjoyed the breakfast from Locande Verde on the outdoor patio.

Casual TriBeCa vibe, elegant, comfortable surroundings, gracious staff, excellent Italian restaurant and a Zen-like spa. Loved it and will return.

The Greenwich Hotel has a remarkable cosy-and-yet-opulent feel. The staff was gracious and helpful. And the view of NYC from our floor-to-ceiling window was amazing.
