Welcoming, understated 25-room hotel in handsome 13th-century brick-and-stone farmstead set on a hilltop overlooking miles of rolling countryside, eight miles east of Siena. Authentically Tuscan lodgings feature bare wood beams, cool terra-cotta-tiled floors, whitewashed walls and screened windows. Cozy baths provide single vanities and combined tub/showers; doors open onto private outdoor terraces. La Colonna restaurant offers excellent contemporary Tuscan cooking. Refined lounge, library and bar; also outdoor swimming pool, as well as indoor leisure center with large heated pool, hydrojet pool, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and spa. Wine tastings can be arranged by sommelier.

Deluxe Room, from $730; Junior Suite, from $885.

Standard Inclusions:

For stays of two nights or longer, rates include daily buffet breakfast served at the restaurant (American-style breakfast served a la carte available for a supplemental charge), welcome amenity, Wi-Fi, use of hotel facilities, parking and shuttle service to Siena at predetermined hours, valid once checked in. When booking a Junior Suite or higher room category, rates also include non-alcoholic minibar.

Referring to the above review received on August 23, 2012 | 11:53:14. Dear Madam/Sir, We are sorry to receive your negative comment. For legal reasons linked to our (small) Property and for privacy respect forward Guests staying at Hotel, we are not allowed to host external people at our SPA. In case in future you could have the chance to stay at Hotel Le Fontanelle you will have consequently the right, as all our Guests, to enjoy all our services, probably also positively appreciating them. I rented a villa right up the road from this hotel and I had hoped to partake of their spa services. However, upon arrival at their gate, I asked whether I could book a massage and they promptly told me that if I wasn't staying at the hotel, I wasn't able to use their services. What a MISSED opportunity for this hotel (and believe me they had hardly any guests). It is in a great location but alas, has poor policies. I was there in May 2012.
