Plantation-style residential resort amid 22,000 scenic Lowcountry acres, 25 minutes from Savannah. Fifty distinctive cottages, trimmed by wonderful screened porches, are set beneath trees overlooking a river and lake. Request one of the odd-numbered cottages (up to #35) for a more scenic tidal frontage, or an even grander Cottage Suite with a separate living area. A formal restaurant and small bar-lounge occupy the main lodge. Amenities include a lagoon-side spa, two fitness centers, several outdoor pools, tennis complex and strikingly designed Jack Nicklaus signature golf course complemented by a timbered clubhouse. Canoeing, kayaking, guided nature walks and saltwater/freshwater fishing add to the pleasure of a stay, as do the nostalgic village green with its bookstore/bakery and cozy café serving brick-oven breads.

Inn at Palmetto Bluff was essentially a perfect vacation venue. Service was superb. Food was haut cuisine. Accommodations were just as described by Andrew Harper. Prices were appropriate. Nicest lap pool I have ever seen. The kayaking and boat trips were wonderful and informative. The one issue is that the landowners are given preferential treatment over the hotel guests. This is understandable as the landowners pay a premium for these memberships. Hotel guests need to be aware and plan accordingly, i.e. make dining and gold reservation well in advance at busy times in order to insure your experience. June 2011
