Owner-chef Raymond Blanc’s gourmet retreat in a transformed 15th-century stone manor amid 27 acres of gardens, 75 minutes northwest of London (eight miles southeast of Oxford). Thirty-two individually designed lodgings (most with A/C) are in the main house and a garden wing. Four suites have been recently unveiled. Elegant lounges lead to the renowned contemporary French restaurant (divided into three formal dining rooms, including a conservatory). Grounds encompass beautifully manicured lawns (including a croquet lawn), an English water garden and a tranquil Japanese tea garden. Inquire about the cooking school schedule.
