Captivating resort on a secluded islet off the coast of Taha'a, surrounded by a turquoise lagoon and backdropped by Bora Bora’s dramatic profile. Unspoiled Taha'a is known for its vanilla plantations and black-pearl farms. It is reached via a 35-minute launch ride from the airport on the neighboring island of Raiatea (or preferably by a 10-minute helicopter flight from Bora Bora). Sixty air-conditioned thatched cottage suites are built out over the lagoon. The interiors feature pitched woven ceilings, blond wood floors and tapa cloth adornments. Each suite opens onto a panoramic deck with cushioned lounge chairs, a thatched dining area and steps leading down to the crystalline waters; #3-#6 provide especially romantic views of Bora Bora. Baths come equipped with deep tubs and walk-in showers. A luncheon café sits adjacent to a palm-fringed infinity pool, while the two splendid restaurants occupy a cathedral-like pavilion. This is the site for breakfast buffets and French/Polynesian dinners featuring delicious seafood options. Snorkeling, day sails and sunset yacht cruises are available, along with invigorating massages and other spa treatments. Amiable and house-proud staff, many hailing from the island of Taha'a, where traditional Polynesian lifestyles are still maintained.

Overwater Suite, from $1,130; Villa, from $1,435.

Rates include daily buffet breakfast for two served at the restaurant, boat shuttle to Taha'a Island, fitness center access, kayaking, snorkelling, tennis and table tennis.

"**Le Tahaa Resort & Spa is an exceptional resort and well-worth the extra time it takes to get there. The rooms, the food, the grounds, the staff and the activities are all fabulous. I will absolutely be recommending this resort to friends and family. **We managed to save a lot of money by purchasing our 4-night stay in an overwater bungalow at Le Tahaa Resort & Spa through the AH Auction site! Even the process of confirming our desired dates was easy, because the AH team was so responsive!"

This resort is incredible. It's absolutely worth a visit, if you're traveling to the islands. It's a secluded hideaway that's removed from the high-trafficked resorts on neighboring islands. The activities are abundant. The food was fabulous (really, it was) and the rooms and grounds were well-maintained. World class snorkeling is a short walk, swim or kayak away. All of the rooms have private 180 degree views of gorgeous turquoise water. Would love to make it back some day! (We were there for 4-nights at the beginning of November for our honeymoon.)

Had a wonderful three night stay at Le Taha'a last week, booked through AH. Received an upgrade and late checkout, a complimentary bottle of Taittinger, and lovely massages. The staff is excellent, the overwater bungalows are gorgeous, the snorkeling in the coral garden was worldclass, and even the food, which I had read mixed reviews of, was quite good. We took a private trip to the pearl farm on Taha'a and I came back with a stunning string of pearls. The only downside was that we couldn't stay longer. Next time! Shea
