Refined 72-room hotel with a serene residential atmosphere, set along a tree-lined street between Madison and Park avenues close to many of the city’s most notable museums, galleries and shops. The 23 rooms are a little on the small side (400 square feet), but the 49 suites are among the finest in the city: 33 have woodburning fires; 14 come with private terraces; and nearly all are equipped with kitchens. Recently renovated Italian marble baths provide stall showers and flat-panel TVs. The Post House serves American classic dishes, including prime steaks and lobster. Breakfast, Sunday brunch and afternoon tea can be enjoyed in the Pembroke Room. The fitness center is relatively small, but well-equipped. Exceptionally attentive service complements a peerless location.

My mother and I stayed at the Lowell during the 2011 US Open. We absolutely loved it! We felt like we had our own private apartment on the Upper East Side. We were close to great shops, restaurants and the subway stop for our trips to Queens. The service was top notch. I look forward to returning again. My only complaint is that it would have been nice to have a comfortable chair to sit in in our room besides the bed.

The room was extremely comfortable. The concierge gave an excellent recommendation for lunch since we arrived too early to check in. May 2011
