Seaside sanctuary on a 200-acre jungle estate fronting a long white-sand beach, 45 minutes south of Cancún. The Maya-Moorish compound contains 65 guest quarters enhanced by handcarved furnishings and private verandas; request an Ocean View unit such as #2, #4, #9 or #12. Two fine seaside dining venues, including signature restaurant (El Sol) offering an innovative menu of Mexican/Mediterranean dishes. Three outdoor pools and calm, clear-water ocean swimming, plus reef snorkeling excursions and deep-sea fishing charters; also fitness center, first-class spa with open-air massage palapas, and day excursions to renowned Mayan sites. This is a romantic and restful Yucatán getaway, though the once-unspoiled coastline is beginning to sprout other hotels and developments.

The hotel is, of course, beautiful and a delight to the eye. The double gates on the main entrance provide a degree of security that we appreciated in these troubled times. The menu for breakfast, the ONLY meal included in the stay, was too limited for my liking, especially after being there for several days. I interacted with your front desk staff, for a variety of reasons, on a nearly daily basis. They knew my name immediately, and went out of their way to be helpful, especially when I had an unconventional request. If what I wanted or needed could not be done they usually had several good alternatives. Again, way more than just helpful, but actually concerned about the guests.

Would someone here comment on the Sian Nah one-bedroom suites? We are considering a week-long stay in July. (Yes, I know it will be hot, it will rain and there might be a hurricane; I have my reasons.)

Maroma is terrific. True to their appellation - "Welcome Home!" They clearly value the Harper relationship and more than hold up their end.

Maroma is trying harder than ever to please. We loved having meals on the beach with the wind blowing in our face in mid February. Staff is amazingly motivated to please. Food is good to great. Prices are stiff (ballpark of $1400/day for our room and board) but for those reading this that may seem more than reasonable. Anything to criticize? I found the Wine Spectator awarded wine list very frustrating in that I was pressed to find anything I wanted to drink for less than $150/bottle. Knowing many of the wines, the markup is 4-5x retail price, which I find unacceptable. An alternative is the extensive tequila list. Overall, this is a safe spot to veg out and enjoy a warm winter holiday in Mexico, cost be damned.

We not only got the AH benefits but those offered by the hotel package. I felt the value went up exponentially. The best was the upgrade. We went from a garden view to a ocean front suite. Extraordinary!

Spent Thanksgiving week at the resort. This was our first visit, and we will be back. The friendly but professional service is unique and infectious. Our room which was an ocean front suite, was to die for. We walked just a few steps to a "beach bed" where towels and beverage service was continuously available. The most noteworthy portion of our stay must be the excellent food. Every meal was absolutely superb. We capped the gastronomic delight at the Chef's table, where we were treated to a feast of Mexican foods and Mexican wines with a description of each by the resort's Executive Chef.

Exquisite resort. Beautiful ocean front rooms, spectacular food, and top service. Dive Master is very helpful and there is much to do. We had the wonderful experience of staying over Christmas. The Mayan dancers were wonderful and their was a festival on New Years Eve The food was superb, the breakfasts were as special as the dinners. The staff was truly wonderful. At night they illuminate the walkways with 1,000 candles and provide big bonfire after dark. The spa is also unique both architecturally and services provided. Every night the bedroom was decorated with petals and there was a special gift to find. We still talk about the chocolate soap. Our Children loved it all. They were 6th -12th grade and never bored

Room are just ok, but the property is wonderfully romantic:  candlelit walkways, breakfast on private patio, beautiful beach and extraordinarily romantic dinners overlooking the beach!
