Glamorous property in the lively Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, with peerless views of Table Mountain. Seven-story crescent-shaped Marina Rise tower offers 91 spacious accommodations with a pleasing contemporary décor enlivened by colorful African fabrics and art work. On one of two man-made, landscaped islands are 40 additional suites, a lovely free-form swimming pool and a casual outdoor restaurant/grill. An opulent spa occupies the second island. Lodgings include 24-hour butler service; huge marble baths provide every conceivable amenity, including outsize egg-shaped soaking tubs. Flanking an island bar in the center of the tower’s spectacular glass-walled lobby are two dining options, Nobuyuki Matsuhisa’s Nobu and Reuben’s for bistro fare.

The One & Only, Cape Town was fantastic, the rooms and main hotel areas were amazing and the staff and service were unbelievably exceptional.  Funnily enough the 'upgrade' to the island rooms was a bit of a shame, as although the room itself is amazing, you miss out on being up high and the WONDERFUL view of Table Mountain.  I would highly recommend the mountain view rooms - and indeed after one night we moved! FYI - the island rooms are far larger (although all of the rooms are large)  - and are right next to the pool and spa (but in the winter it's too cold for the pool) so if one wanted a pool in the city type break - then perfect. However, the amenities in the rooms are pretty identical - beautiful free standing tub, separate shower, two sinks, separate sitting area, entrance area and bar and coffee machine etc.  If it's a first visit to Cape Town, the hotel or the winter - the mountain view rooms really are a must.  I really think that only a frequent visitor to Cape Town who really wanted a beach getaway in an urban area would want to be in the island room. Wow! What a beautiful hotel; stayed here for 4 nights in June and loved it. The staff were fantastic, location is good, but the main 'wow' factor is the bar and the views of table mountain. Stay in a mountain view room rather than the next step up and enjoy - it's a very modern style (fabulous soaking tubs) but in my view this is head and shoulders above the Cape Grace and the Mount Nelson. Make the (short) trip to La Colombe - also well worth the journey.
