Rocco Forte Hotel de Russie

Just spent 5 nights at Hotel de Russie. It is a beautiful hotel, modern rooms and good service. They have great attention to detail. For example everyone appeared to know that we met up with a friend and treated us as a "party of three" in the restaurant, etc. They acknowledged my fiancé's birthday by leaving a beautiful birthday cake in our room (and 3 serving sets, of course!). The concierge folks were very nice and helpful… the front desk not so much. We requested a 2 hour late check out (from noon to 2:00 PM since we had spa appointments that ended at 1:00). They refused and begrudgingly gave us until 1:00. At one point I asked the front desk if they had a USB cable I could borrow so we could transfer some data between our own laptops, and the answer was "You MAY NOT connect your computer to our computers in the business center!" I explained that I wouldn't connect my computer to their computer if they paid me to! I gave up after a few minutes of discussion since he refused to understand what I was asking for. Also, not only wifi was not free, is actually ridiculously expensive. If my neighborhood mom-and-pop coffee shop can provide free wifi with the $4.00 latte, a hotel where we are paying $1400 per night should not nickel and dime me for bytes! Having said all that, we still liked the hotel and enjoyed our stay. Don't know if we will go back to them though. Need a Four Seasons in Rome! :)
