Lavish and intimate safari lodge within the private Thornybush Game Reserve along the western fringe of Kruger National Park. Elegant open-air living and dining areas with vaulted thatched roofs are decorated with fine British Colonial-style furnishings, African tribal artifacts and Persian carpets. The lodge’s cuisine is of a particularly high standard. Elevated walkways lead to six freestanding suites featuring scenic decks with private plunge pools, living areas with log fires, and spacious baths with soaking tubs, plus indoor/outdoor showers. Excellent wildlife-viewing in open-topped Land Rovers. Other facilities include an intimate spa and fitness room. Royal Malewane is reached via a commercial flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit (Eastgate Airport), followed by a land transfer to the lodge. No children under age 12.
