Singita Ebony Lodge

The equally refined and similarly priced Ebony Lodge occupies a separate riverside enclave about five minutes’ drive from Singita Boulders Lodge. Twelve expansive air-conditioned suites evoke the colonial era with antique furniture, handwoven fabrics, 19th-century prints, wood fires and African artifacts. Marble baths provide soaking tubs and indoor and outdoor showers; private observation decks offer plunge pools. Public areas include a magnificent lounge and a library, while sumptuous modern-African cuisine complemented by a notable wine cellar is served in an atmospheric candlelit dining room or beneath the stars next to a blazing fire. The Singita airstrip is reached from Johannesburg via Federal Air (90 minutes); other regularly scheduled flights are also available. Farther south is colonial-style Castleton Camp, once the private home of the Bailes family, consisting of a stone farmhouse and six air-conditioned en suite chalets in a garden setting. Available to private groups of up to 12, including children of all ages, it includes an executive chef, tennis court, swimming pool, personal tracker and game ranger, and dedicated open Land Rover.
