Southern Ocean Lodge was FABULOUS. The vistas were dramatic, the activities fun and active for our entire family, the food wonderful, and the service exemplary. Very glad AH helped bring us to these wonderful resorts.

We have just returned from four days at Southern Ocean Lodge, the Baillie's new property on Kangaroo Island.  It is an amazing, breath taking location, right on the cliff overlooking Hansons Bay and the coastal euclyptus forest.  The building is very modern and and extremely well thought out with many comfortable areas to relax and enjoy the view...the bedrooms are enormous, with absolutely everything stocked for you...wine, soft drinks, snacks, and backpacks and waterbottles for your hikes in the parks and along the beach.
One thing we really enjoyed was the large selection of KI and South Australia wines available at the wine bar, all there for tasting...before dinner.  Food is excellent, the breakfasts being of the eggs and bacon variety, and three organic local honeys to try...lunch and dinner imaginative and varied, but almost always using local produce.

KI, as the locals call it, is like northern california, but with kangaroos and koalas..lots to do and see, well worth 4-7 days ...but save a day to stay at SOL!

The whole trip was wonderful, and highly recommended!!

Couldnt agree with the comments above more.  The only thing we did not do was save enough time to just relax at the resort, which is hard to explain its beauty in words.  We have some of the best pictures we ever taken from this island.  From the Italian limestone floors, to the eco friendly solar panels and water gather system, the resort is second to none.  OH.... and then there is the wildlife and natural beauty....

This is a jaw-dropping place. I really couldn't stop smiling the entire time I was there. Even for a seasoned luxury traveller, this one will take your breath away. We loved walking around at dusk when the wallabies and echidnas came out. The food was fantastic! Our favorite off-property experience was the nocturnal tour. We stayed 4 nights, but easily could have stayed for twice that.
