Intimate, all-inclusive country retreat amid 300 acres of meadows and woodlands in an unspoiled valley, 15 minutes north of Woodstock, Vermont. Handpainted murals, rich maple and pine woodwork, American folk art and museum-quality contemporary oils adorn the inn’s rustically elegant lounges. Other public areas include a raftered library housed by the original barn, and a 104-degree Japanese furo. Twenty distinctive lodgings (including a self-contained four- suite enclave facing a pond) feature king-size feather beds and sitting areas with fireplaces that open onto screened porches. Request one of the imaginatively decorated cottages (“Log Cabin,” “Treehouse” and “Woods” are especially appealing) secluded in the woodlands. The exceptional dining room is backed by a 20,000-bottle wine cellar. Activities include hiking, biking, tennis, golf, lake swimming, fishing and canoeing. The property also offers a fitness center and a spa with custom-made bath and body products from Arcania Apothecary. In winter, guests enjoy private ski slopes, cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing, and ice skating. No children under age 16.

Just to follow up my comments from August 2010, my wife and I have been back to Twin Farms both in 2011 and most recently Memorial Day Weekend of this year. It is our opinion that Twin Farms has maintained its superlative standards of food, service, accommodations and activities that makes it one of if not THE best resort in the United States. The best way to describe Twin Farms is Shangri La in Vermont

Though the weather was less than cooperative, the staff and facilities more than met our needs. What an asset to have multiple generators when power is out and phones are also out.

My wife and I where there in 2006, 2007, and we just visited again after a four-year absence. It is exactly the way we remembered it: ultra-high-end, incredibly accommodating, and completely indulgent. The staff is kind, cheery, engaging, and helpful. We spent our days hiking, biking, antiquing, and exploring the beautiful VT countryside. Twin Farms packed lunch for us one day (lobster) and we ended up eating it watching a local polo match (sitting on a blanket they gave us). Does it get any better? I absolutely love Twin Farms and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the finest things in life.

Always wanted to stay here because it is supposed to be so glorious. BUT have read a half-dozen negative reviews on TripAdvisor from this year, saying things are beginning to get a bit run down/in need of a refurbishment in the rooms -- and that staff has been reduced, amenities cut back, etc.
Please, has anyone stayed there in the last 6 months who could give me accurate feedabck?

For $2,000+ a night and a 'mandatory' 4 night stay during fall leaf changing season, it needs to be perfect, not just in room size but in maintenance and attention to detail !

My wife and I stayed at Twin Farms over the Memorial Day Weekend and we have been going there once or twice a year since 1995.  I am happy to report that the food, service and accommodations were as superb as ever.  I would not hesiiate to return.  In fact we are considering going back for Thanksgiving.
No amenities have been cut back.  In fact over the past few years they have been increased, i.e. complimentry laundry service, Wi-fi and all local and long distance calls.
