Sophisticated and exquisitely restored 19th-century Italianate palazzo standing amid 22 acres of tranquil parkland designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, a short walk from Tanglewood. Among the 19 lodgings, the five junior suites on the second floor offer balconies with superb views of the serene and wooded landscape. Contemporary and traditional furnishings, modern art and objets d’art from around the world accent the Great Hall and central lounge. Dining options include chef Jeffrey Thompson’s intimate and award-winning French/American restaurant, which expands from a formal room to a glass-enclosed porch. The Library provides a more casual everyday alternative. Amenities include a heated outdoor pool, tennis court and fitness/ massage salons. No children under age 9.

One of my favorite hotel experiences ever. Wheatleigh is pure luxury, from the warmth and ambience to the aromas and comfort throughout. It is so peaceful there. Service is second to none. We prefer the feel of The Library for dinner because it is less formal but still a delicious, elegant dining experience. Wheatleigh for us is a tranquil, sophisticated retreat for the soul and a gourmet indulgence for the senses.

I thought I would update the discussion on this hotel which does not appear to be the topic of a forum entry in  a while. I recently stayed three nights and found the lodging side of the house (in contrast to the dining) excellent. Overall the physical facility and room amenities were very nice. Each of the service personnel ( including manager, housekeepers and porters)were gracious, eager and sincere in their assistance. We were upgraded from a deluxe to a junior suite and found the room  very comfortable, nicely maintained and well appointed. The common rooms were also nicely maintained, and were arranged and decorated in good taste; inviting and not so formal as to be off putting in the event you wish to lounge in public. A very well run, well maintained and attractive country hotel/inn.
The food service experience was otherwise but thankfully there are many alternative dining choices in the area.
