Each year, we ask our readers to vote for the best hotels, resorts, and safari lodges outside of the United States with 50 rooms or fewer. From St. Barths to New Zealand, from South Africa to Italy, we are pleased to share our readers’ favorite international hideaways.


1. Eden Rock - St Barths

St. Jean Bay, St. Barths — Chic boutique resort atop a small rocky promontory bordered by the pristine white sands of Baie de St-Jean.

2. Otahuna Lodge

Christchurch, New Zealand — Evocative seven-suite Queen Anne manor amid century-old estate gardens, 20 minutes outside Christchurch. Magnificently appointed public areas include a richly paneled dining room, library and guest lounge. 

3. Singita Boulders Lodge

Sabi Sand Game Reserve, South Africa — Superb luxury lodge on a private tract of riverfront land in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve bordering the unfenced boundary of Kruger National Park.

4. Relais Borgo Santo Pietro

Chiusdino, Italy — Thirteenth-century stone manor house built as a resting place for pilgrims en route to Rome, converted to a lavish 15-room hotel (including six garden suites), 35 minutes southeast of Siena in a rural corner of Tuscany.
