A music lover at heart, I set aside several days every July or August to visit Tanglewood, the enchanting summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra tucked away on a private estate in the glorious Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. The pleasure of the performance is often accompanied by an indulgent stay at nearby Wheatleigh or Blantyre, though both merit a visit most any time because of the area’s year-round cultural attractions, art galleries and specialty boutiques. Both lodgings are in Lenox, just a few minutes from Tanglewood.
