Our Review of Amanjiwo:
Serene and elegant resort looking out to majestic Borobudur (the largest Buddhist monument in the world) in the lush heartland of Central Java. Lofty limestone walls surround 36 domed guest villas adjacent to the temple-like main building. Javanese art and textiles enhance suites that feature four-pillar platform beds, bay windows, terrazzo baths with outdoor sunken tubs, and thatched garden pavilions (some terraces are augmented by plunge pools). The colonnaded, open-air dining room provides panoramic views of the countryside. Amenities include a magnificent 130-foot limestone horizon pool surrounded by wooden sun loungers and adjacent to a small café, plus gym suite, tennis courts and spa treatments.
