Our Review of Buckland Manor:
Charming 13th-century Buckland Manor house-hotel is at the edge of an unspoiled village near Broadway. Fifteen stylish guest quarters (no A/C) feature antiques and rich wallcoverings. Request “Vaulted” or “Fountain,” though “Oak,” “Delany,” “Floral” and “Scott” are also very nice; some rooms have baths with soaking tubs, separate showers and heated floors. Restful lounges have oak paneling, beamed ceilings, Oriental carpets and log fireplaces. Candlelit dining room features fresh local produce, with herbs from the manor’s own gardens. Amenities include 10 acres of ornamental gardens, tennis courts and a croquet lawn. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon is 30 minutes away. No children under age 10 permitted at Buckland Manor.
