Scale of 90-100

Charming, well-run 14-room hotel within a restored 12th-century castle perched on a knoll amid gardens and lawns, in the heart of the hilltop village of Sinio in the Barolo wine district. Each room is unique. Room 8 — a Junior Suite with a terra-cotta tile floor, high beamed ceiling and exposed stone walls — has superb views through three windows; small stall shower. Atmospheric medieval dining room serves excellent food prepared by the owner-executive chef, who also provides a wonderfully detailed miniguide to the region listing vineyards, tasting rooms, restaurants and attractions.
