Our Review of Lapa Rios Ecolodge:
Wilderness refuge dramatically sited above the Golfo Dulce, in an isolated corner of the Osa Peninsula at the southern tip of Costa Rica. Sixteen thatched bungalows (no A/C) are situated on a steep hillside covered with tropical vegetation; each unit is outfitted with netted windows and private decks; bear in mind, the higher the room number, the longer and steeper the climb to the main building. Open-air restaurant has a platform for viewing monkeys, parrots, toucans and scarlet macaws. Spa and pool, plus fascinating jungle/shoreline safaris and horseback riding. No phones, TVs or Internet access in rooms. Overseen by a friendly and knowledgeable staff, this ecological sanctuary captures the essence of wild Costa Rica. No children under age 6.
