Pikaia Lodge

94 Editor Rating
Scale of 90-100

Luxurious, sculpture-filled resort on the island of Santa Cruz, set on a hilltop amid 75 acres that have been replanted with some 9,000 native trees. Twelve suites with either patios or balconies, plus two larger suites, one of which has a private plunge pool. Opt for a slightly more expensive Balcony Room, which has higher ceilings and unobstructed views toward the distant coast through floor-to-ceiling windows. All suites have a simple but plush décor with dark bamboo floors, large travertine-clad baths and living rooms with flat-screen televisions. Airy lobby-lounge, satisfying (if inconsistent) cuisine in Evolution Restaurant, wide infinity pool, small Sumaq Spa. Unforgettable excursions with Pikaia’s yacht to nearby islands (private charters can be arranged), as well as land-based tours on Santa Cruz.
