Scale of 90-100
The Point is an evocative property formerly owned by the Rockefeller family, on Upper Saranac Lake, 45 minutes from Lake Placid. Eleven distinctive accommodations are housed within an imposing log structure and three annexes. Most feature stone fireplaces, custom furnishings and luxurious baths. A massive spruce-beamed living room/dining hall serves as the venue for candlelit family-style dinners. Activities include lake swimming, water skiing, canoeing, tennis and shoreline hikes. In winter, the emphasis switches to cross-country skiing, ice skating and snowshoeing. The evening formality (jacket and tie required, and black tie suggested on Wednesday and Saturday nights) may be a turnoff for some. The Point does not permit guests under age 18. The serene, wooded property is an idyllic departure point for nearby water and wilderness recreation.
